Mayor Moccia Facing Mass Defection

Norwalk, CT. Are Norwalk’s Common Council Republicans walking away from their Mayor? "Kelly Straniti will not be running. Mayor Moccia is taking Norwalk in a direction that nobody agrees with. Ms. Straniti is just one of four or five Republican Council Members who will not be seeking reelection this year. It is clear that like a majority of Norwalk voters, the Republican Council Members do not support Mayor Moccia, his platform, and his vision for our City" said Marc Bradley, chairman of the Norwalk Democratic Town Committee. Howard Dean: The Democratic Party will surge in the Northeast

January 22, 2011. Over the past several years the Connecticut Democratic Party has been morphing and expanding from its traditional base of working people to include what use(d) to be rock-ribbed Republicans from Stamford and elsewhere who are deeply worried about the extreme rhetoric of the national Republican leadership.

Bachmann signs socially conservative pledge on homosexuality, marriage. Washington Post, July 8, 2011 Of the 2012 GOP presidential candidates, Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) signed the pledge. A spokesman for Tim Pawlenty said the former Minnesota governor is reviewing it. A spokeswoman for former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The pledge, titled “The Marriage Vow: A Declaration of Dependence Upon Marriage and Family,” originated with a group led by Bob Vander Plaats, an evangelical Christian leader in Iowa. The group, the Family Leader, is asking all the 2012 presidential hopefuls to sign it. (read the pledge here)

No compromises, just say NO to Obama
"Right" off the cliff

Saturday, May 7, 2011. Santa Barbara, Independent. Common sense would dictate that a president who green-lighted a brilliant military operation resulting in Osama bin Laden's burial at sea would be deserving of some gratitude, or at least some grudging respect from non-admirers. Instead, we're seeing silly conspiracy theories, vapid talking heads busily re-assigning credit for the mission's success to the Bush administration, and outlandish suggestions that dispatching the world's most-wanted terrorist is a "distraction" from the real issue, which is, of course, the birth certificate. In a frenzied effort to circle the wagons, the loony right has finally succeeded in galloping over the edge of the cliff.

GOP Agenda for America

"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."
Republican leader of the Senate, Sen. Mitch McConnelll comment made in an interview with the National Journal's Major Garrett on October. 29, 2010
